London and Laurel County is home to some of Kentucky’s most beautiful Rivers & Lakes.

London – Laurel County and the surrounding area has many options for those looking to spend some time on the water. Laurel River Lake, Wood Creek Lake, Rockcastle River, Cumberland River, and Cumberland Falls are some of the most beautiful areas to explore… right in our own backyard. Laurel River Lake

Laurel River Lake is located on London Ranger District and features 5,600 acres of clear, deep water and nearly 200 miles of tree-lined shore. The quiet coves and cliff-lined shores offer relaxation and quiet reflection, as well as boating, fishing, skiing and scuba diving in one of the deepest and cleanest lakes in Kentucky. Fishing for black bass, rainbow trout, walleye, crappie, blue gill and catfish is excellent. Night fishing for trout is also popular during the summer months.

Wood Creek Lake

Wood Creek Lake is located in Laurel County about 6 miles northwest of London. The dam is a highway fill embankment on Interstate 75 about 9 miles north of London. This lake was completed in 1969. Facilities include a launching area, boat dock, parking area with a few cozy cabin rentals. Wood Creek Lake is a lake that is widely over looked by anglers in the bluegrass. It is a smaller lake, at only 625 acres, but it provides excellent fishing opportunities for bass, panfish & catfish. There is a public boat ramp, and a nearby tackle store offers live bait, tackle, supplies & some boat rentals.

Rockcastle River

The Rockcastle River whose flow forms the border of Rockcastle and Laurel counties is one of Kentucky’s best whitewater streams. The river also holds good populations of smallmouth bass and rock bass. It offers something for everyone, whether it’s mild water for anglers and family trips, or challenging whitewater for the adventurous kayaker.

Cumberland River

The Cumberland River flows through the heart of the Daniel Boone National Forest and offers great canoeing and rafting opportunities. The river is known for Cumberland Falls, which divides the river into two distinct segments. The 16.1-mile section from Summer Shoals to the backwaters of Lake Cumberland is designated a Kentucky Wild River.

Treetop Adventure

 

A treetop aerial attraction located at Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park in London, Kentucky. The aerial adventure park features 60 elements of fun, including zip-lines, rope bridges, suspended tunnels and much more! The Treetop Adventure at Levi Jackson is operated by City of London Tourism.  Attraction Fee is $20.00 per person for 2.5 hours. Weather permitting.

The Cumberland Falls

 

The scenic waterfalls of Kentucky are as majestic as it gets, and Cumberland Falls is the grandest of them all. Measuring approximately 68 feet tall and 125 feet wide, this impressive waterfall has earned its moniker of “the Niagara of the South.” For a truly unforgettable experience, visit during a full moon to try to catch a glimpse of the moonbow; this extremely rare phenomenon, formed by the mist in the air from the falls, is one of only two naturally occurring moonbows in the world.
