Shakespeare with a Twist

Inspired by one of William Shakespeare’s most memorable plays, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, The Millstone Community Theatre Guild will be performing a nontraditional take of this play originally published in
the 1600s. This version is adapted by Jon Jory. It has a modern twist, with the setting during the 1980’s, it’s a play within a play.

Millstone Community Theatre Guild is dedicated with over 20 cast members. The majority being local amateur actors from Laurel and Whitley counties. The Director, David Sweet, is a retired drama teacher of 21 years. The Guild is traveling to different venues across area, making each performance a unique experience.

Liz Michael, Founding Director says, “We have no home, so we are choosing plays to fit different venues in which we have access. We are performing at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Corbin, Kentucky Thursday, June 22nd 7pm. Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park in London, Kentucky Friday and Saturday June 23 & 24 7pm.”

These performances will be enjoyed by generations of families, offering quality entertainment for the entire community. As well as providing opportunity for actors, directors, and designers to sharpen their skills and talent. Community theater provides an inexpensive source of entertainment for residents and tourists. Community theater becomes alive, accessible form of art for everyone. The best part is the admission is FREE.

However, the expense of Community Theater has expenses covering like royalties, scripts, costumes, make up sound lighting, facility rentals and marketing. Support from local communities is crucial to the success. Donations are 100% tax deductible.
