With the arrival of April, London-Laurel County is buzzing with the promise of warmer weather and an active schedule of community events waiting to unfold! 

London Spring Clean Up Day April 13, 2024

London Tourism & Parks are gearing up for an exciting season of events. But before the festivities kick off, they’re calling on volunteers to help ensure the city looks its best. On Saturday, April 13, London-Laurel County is rallying together for a massive cleanup effort.

The cleanup kicks off at 9 a.m. at the London-Laurel County Farmers Market, where volunteers will be provided with vests, gloves, and pickers.

Individuals and groups alike are encouraged to participate. Whether you’re flying solo or rallying your friends, every pair of hands makes a difference. You can even specify which areas you’d like to tackle when registering, ensuring everyone plays a part in keeping London litter-free.

As a token of appreciation, lunch vouchers to local eateries will be provided to each participant. It’s a small gesture of thanks for your service to London and Laurel County.

Action for Autism Walk April 13, 2024

Get ready to mark your calendars for a fun-filled day for a worthy cause! Action for Autism is hosting a walk Downtown London on April 13th for a day of community, awareness, and fun! This free event is dedicated to supporting individuals with autism and their families.

Starting at 11:00 a.m., head over to Town Center Park for registration and to grab your event shirts, available for purchase on-site and at the Farmer’s Market. Then, at 12 p.m. noon, meet at the starting line for the main event – a walk down Main Street from Town Center Park to the Farmer’s Market. It’s a chance to stroll together, raise awareness, and show your support for the autism community.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! From 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., arrive at the London-Laurel Co. Farmer’s Market for a party that’s sure to delight kids and adults alike. Enjoy activities, games, vendors, and entertainment for the whole family while supporting a fantastic cause.

 

Redbud Ride April 20, 2024

Get ready to embark on a thrilling journey through the scenic beauty of southeastern Kentucky for the renowned Redbud Ride. Held annually in downtown London, KY, this iconic bicycle ride offers something for riders of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned pros.

Named the “Best Century Ride in America” by Active.com, the Redbud Ride is a highlight of the cycling calendar, drawing participants from far and wide to experience its breathtaking routes and vibrant atmosphere.

With four distinct routes to choose from, there’s a perfect option for every rider:

  • The Yellow Route (24 miles): Ideal for beginners and families, featuring gentle terrain and stunning views of blooming redbud trees.
  • The Orange Route (34 miles): A moderate challenge suitable for first-timers or those seeking a leisurely pace.
